About this calculator

American (moneyline) odds use different formats for favorites and underdogs. A negative number (e.g., −150) shows how much you must bet to win $100, converting to decimal odds via 100/|odds| + 1; a positive number (e.g., +150) shows the profit on a $100 bet, converting via odds/100 + 1. Decimal odds always express the total payout — stake included — per $1 wagered.

This calculator also derives the implied probability the odds represent, which is what sportsbooks are effectively pricing in (before their margin, or "vig"). Bettors use it to compare lines quoted in different formats across sportsbooks that don't all default to the same convention.
