Average selling price (ASP) is one of the simplest but most closely watched metrics in retail and consumer goods: total revenue divided by the number of units sold, giving you the blended price actually realized across every sale, discount, bundle and channel combined — not the sticker price.

Industry analysts track ASP trends to gauge whether a market is trading up or down (smartphone ASP is a widely-cited example, watched closely by firms like IDC and Counterpoint to see whether consumers are shifting toward premium or budget devices), and companies track their own ASP over time to see if pricing power, discounting, or product mix is shifting revenue per unit. This calculator simply divides total revenue by units sold to give you the average selling price for any period or product line.
