About this calculator
Cash back rewards credit cards pay back a percentage of every purchase as cash, either as a flat rate on all spending or at elevated rates in specific bonus categories (groceries, gas, dining) that rotate or vary by card.
The reward is only “free money” if the balance is paid in full each month — carrying a balance at a typical credit card APR erases any cash-back earnings many times over. This calculator multiplies your monthly spend by the cash back rate to project the annual rewards earned.
