A ccTLD (country-code top-level domain) is the two-letter domain suffix — .tr, .de, .jp, .br — assigned by IANA to a specific country or territory, almost always matching that country’s ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code. Unlike generic TLDs such as .com or .org, each ccTLD is delegated to a national registry (like TRABIS for .tr or DENIC for .de) that sets its own registration rules, which is why some ccTLDs require local presence and others are sold globally as branding domains (like .io or .co).
