About this calculator

Any three points that don't all lie on a single line define exactly one circle — their circumcircle — found by intersecting the perpendicular bisectors of any two chords connecting the points, or equivalently by solving the general equation of a circle for its center and radius.

This is the same geometric construction used to find a triangle's circumcenter. It's used in geometry coursework, in CAD/CNC work where an arc needs to be fitted through measured points, in surveying, and in computer-graphics or CAM algorithms that need to reconstruct a circular arc from a handful of sampled points.
