About this calculator

This calculator computes closing line value (CLV) — the percentage edge between the odds a bettor actually took and the final closing odds just before the event starts, expressed in decimal odds: CLV = (Your Odds ÷ Closing Odds − 1) × 100. Closing odds are treated as the market's most efficient, best-informed price, since they've absorbed all available money and information.

Professional sports bettors and quantitative handicappers track CLV over hundreds of bets because short-term results are dominated by variance — a bettor who consistently beats the closing line is capturing genuine pricing inefficiency, which is a far more reliable long-run skill signal than win/loss record alone.
