About this calculator

Diluting a concentrate to a weaker strength follows the same conservation-of-mass logic as the C₁V₁ = C₂V₂ dilution equation: the total volume needed at the target strength is V₂ = V₁ × (C₁ ÷ C₂), so the water to add is simply V₂ minus the concentrate volume you started with, V₁.

This calculator applies that relationship directly to everyday dilution tasks — diluting cleaning-product concentrates, juice or squash concentrates, liquid fertilizers, and disinfectants to a manufacturer's recommended strength — so you don't have to solve the ratio by hand or risk a mix that's too strong or too weak for its intended use.
