About this calculator

Position sizing is a core risk-management practice in trading: rather than deciding how much crypto to buy based on gut feeling, it works backward from how much of your account you're willing to risk on a single trade and how far away your stop-loss is. The formula is Position Size = (Account Size × Risk %) / Stop-Loss Distance — a wider stop (more room for the price to move against you before you exit) means a smaller position for the same dollar risk, and vice versa.

Because crypto markets are famously volatile, disciplined traders use position sizing to keep any single losing trade from doing outsized damage to their account, regardless of how confident they feel about the trade. This calculator takes your account size, risk percentage, and stop-loss distance and returns the position size that keeps your risk consistent.
