About this calculator

Equity-based profit distribution allocates a shared profit pool to each owner strictly in proportion to their ownership percentage — a 30% stakeholder receives 30% of the distributable profit, regardless of hours worked or role, unless the partnership agreement specifies otherwise.

Partnerships, LLCs, and small corporations use this pro-rata method because it is written directly into most operating agreements and cap tables: it is simple to audit, avoids disputes over subjective effort, and mirrors how liability and control are typically also split. It differs from performance-based or role-based distribution models, which some partnerships use instead when contribution is meant to matter more than raw ownership percentage.

This calculator takes a total profit pool and the equity percentage of up to three partners or shareholders and returns each owner's exact payout, giving a quick, transparent way to confirm a distribution before it is finalized.
