About this calculator

This calculator projects a race finish time by multiplying your target pace per kilometer (or mile) by the total race distance — a straightforward calculation, but one that runners lean on constantly when planning a race strategy, because it turns an abstract pace number into a concrete finish-line clock time.

Runners and running coaches use pace-to-finish-time math to set goal times for 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and marathons, to plan negative-split or even-split strategies (running the second half faster or the same as the first), and to decide which pace group to line up with at the start. It is also how race organizers and pacers ('rabbits') calculate the checkpoints they need to hit along the course to guide runners to a specific goal time.

Enter your target pace and the distance you're racing, and this calculator returns the projected total finish time so you can check it against your goal before race day.
