About this calculator

This calculator finds how many cords of firewood a stack contains from its length, height, and depth. A full cord is a standardized stack measuring 4 feet high by 4 feet deep by 8 feet long — 128 cubic feet of stacked wood — so the calculator divides your stack's volume by 128 to get the cord count.

Homeowners heating with a wood stove use it to check whether a delivered load matches what they paid for, and firewood sellers use it to price a stack fairly. Enter the dimensions of your stack to see the volume and the equivalent number of cords.
