Projecting net worth forward combines two familiar pieces of finance math: compound growth on the starting balance, P·(1+r)^n, plus the future value of a growing series of contributions added each year and compounded for the years remaining. Together these give the projected balance at the end of each year, showing how much of eventual net worth comes from the starting capital compounding versus from ongoing savings.

This calculator takes a starting net worth, annual contribution, expected annual growth rate, and a number of years, and projects the balance year by year. Personal finance planners and individuals pursuing early retirement or FIRE goals use this projection to see how sensitive their long-term outcome is to small changes in savings rate or assumed return, and to set a realistic target date for a net-worth milestone.
