A parlay (or accumulator) bet combines multiple individual bets, called legs, into one wager that only pays out if every single leg wins; in decimal odds format the combined odds are simply the product of each leg's odds, Combined odds = odds₁ × odds₂ × odds₃ × …, and the payout is that combined figure multiplied by the stake.

Multiplying odds this way compounds both the payout and the risk exponentially: three legs at even-money decimal odds of 2.00 each combine to 8.00, an 8x payout, but the probability of hitting all three drops just as fast, which is exactly why sportsbooks favor parlays — the expected payout to the bettor is lower than betting each leg separately despite the flashy combined number.
