About this calculator

This calculator finds a solenoid's inductance using L = μ₀·N²·A/l, where μ₀ is the permeability of free space, N is the number of turns, A is the coil's cross-sectional area, and l is its length — inductance scales with the square of the turn count because each turn both generates magnetic flux and links with the flux from every other turn.

Electronics hobbyists winding custom coils for radio-frequency circuits, filters, or transformers, electrical engineering students verifying inductor design formulas, and RF engineers prototyping antenna or matching-network components use this. Enter the number of turns, cross-sectional area, and coil length to get the inductance.
