About this calculator

A spark plug's electrode gap — the distance between the center and ground electrode where the spark jumps — is set with a feeler or wire gauge and must match the engine manufacturer's spec exactly, since too narrow or too wide a gap causes misfires. This converter simply switches the unit using 1 inch = 25.4 mm, since manufacturer specs are given in inches (mostly US brands) or millimeters (mostly everywhere else).

Mechanics, small-engine technicians, and DIY car or motorcycle owners use it when the gauge tool reads in one unit but the spec sheet or service manual lists the gap in the other, avoiding a manual conversion error that could leave the engine running rough.
