About this calculator

A triadic color scheme picks three colors evenly spaced around the color wheel — 120° apart in hue — forming an equilateral triangle when plotted on the HSL hue circle. Starting from any base hex color, this calculator keeps its saturation and lightness fixed while rotating the hue by +120° and −120° to find its two triadic partners.

Because the three hues are maximally and evenly separated, triadic palettes tend to feel vibrant and balanced even when using pure, highly saturated colors, which is why designers reach for them in branding, illustration, and UI accent palettes when they want more visual energy than a complementary (2-color, 180°) scheme but more harmony than a fully random color combination.
