About this calculator

A triangular prism's volume is found by first computing the area of its triangular cross-section (½ × base × height) and then multiplying that area by the prism's length — the same "cross-sectional area times length" logic used for the volume of any prism, whatever the shape of its base.

The shape shows up constantly in structural and product design wherever a triangular cross-section is extruded along a length: roof trusses and A-frame structures, triangular chocolate bars and Toblerone-style packaging, wedge-shaped door stops, and structural beams engineered for a triangular profile's strength-to-material advantage.

This calculator takes the base and height of the triangular cross-section along with the prism's length and returns the volume.
