Antilog Calculator
Find the antilogarithm.
Result
How it is calculated
The antilogarithm undoes a logarithm: if log_b(y) = x then y = b^x. Enter the logarithm value x and the base b; the tool returns b^x. Base 10 gives the common antilog and e (2.71828…) the natural one. If the base is left empty or is zero or negative, the tool falls back to 10. Any real x is accepted, including negative numbers and fractions, so 10^-2 = 0.01. The result is rounded to two decimals, so very small answers can show as 0.00 and very large ones lose no digits but become unwieldy. A base of exactly 1 always gives 1.
Worked example
Find the number whose base-10 logarithm is 2.5. Calculate 10^2.5 = 10^2 × 10^0.5 = 100 × 3.16228 = 316.23. So the antilog is 316.23. Check: log10(316.23) is about 2.5. With base 2 and the same value, 2^2.5 would be about 5.66.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the base empty when the log was natural. The default is 10; for natural logs enter 2.718281828.
- Entering the number itself instead of its logarithm, which raises the base to an enormous power.
- Expecting a small result to show enough decimals; 10^-3 displays as 0.00 because of two-decimal rounding.
- Using a negative base, which the tool replaces with 10.
About this calculator
This calculator finds the antilogarithm — the reverse of taking a log — by raising a chosen base to the power of the value you enter (antilog₁₀(x) = 10^x, for example). It's the inverse operation you need whenever you have a logarithm and want the original number back.
It comes up in chemistry when converting pH back to hydrogen ion concentration, in acoustics when converting decibels back to sound intensity, and in engineering and math coursework whenever a log-based formula needs to be reversed. Choose base 10, base e (natural antilog), or a custom base.
