About this calculator
The digit product of a whole number is what you get by multiplying every one of its individual digits together — for example, the digit product of 429 is 4 × 2 × 9 = 72. Unlike digit sum, digit product has a distinctive quirk: if any digit in the number is 0, the entire product collapses to zero, which makes it useful for spotting numbers that contain a zero digit at a glance.
This operation shows up in recreational and competitive mathematics — puzzles that ask you to find the smallest or largest number with a given digit product, or repeated-digit-product sequences (multiplicative persistence, popularized by mathematician Neil Sloane, asks how many times you must multiply a number's digits together before reaching a single digit). Programming courses also use digit product as a classic beginner exercise for practicing loops, modulo arithmetic and digit extraction.
This calculator multiplies all the digits of the whole number you enter and also reports how many digits it has.
