About this calculator

A final paycheck is more than just the wages owed for the last days worked — in many places it must also include a cash payout for any accrued but unused vacation or paid-time-off (PTO) hours the employee had banked, calculated by multiplying the unused hours by the employee's hourly rate (or a daily equivalent for salaried staff).

This calculator adds regular wages for the final pay period to that vacation payout to produce the full amount owed on separation, whether the employee resigned, was laid off, or was terminated. It's a practical tool for payroll and HR staff closing out an employee's final pay, and for employees who want to double-check that their last check reflects everything they're owed.
