About this calculator

There is no single universal formula for converting a GPA to a percentage, because grading scales differ by country and institution — but the most common approximations are percentage ≈ GPA × 20 on a 5.0 scale, and percentage ≈ GPA × 25 (or a formula like (GPA / 4) × 100) on a 4.0 scale, both derived from simply expressing your GPA as a fraction of the maximum possible score.

Students applying to universities abroad run into this constantly: a US transcript reports a 4.0-scale GPA, an Indian or Turkish transcript might use a 10.0 or 4.0 scale with different weighting, and foreign admissions offices often ask applicants to self-convert to a percentage for initial screening even though official evaluators use their own conversion tables (like WES or ECE) for the final decision. Because grading rigor varies so much between schools, this kind of conversion is always an estimate — useful for a ballpark comparison, not a substitute for an institution’s official equivalency assessment.

Enter your GPA and select your scale, and this calculator returns the equivalent percentage using the standard conversion for that scale.
