About this calculator

On-call compensation typically has two parts: standby pay, a reduced rate (often a percentage of your normal hourly wage) paid just for being available to work if called, and callout pay, the premium rate — usually time-and-a-half — paid for the hours actually worked when a call comes in.

This calculator combines both: it multiplies your standby hours by your standby percentage rate, adds the callout hours worked at 1.5× your normal rate, and totals the two into your full on-call earnings. It's useful for nurses, IT support staff, tradespeople, and other shift workers whose contracts pay differently for waiting versus working, to check that a pay stub matches what their on-call schedule actually earned.
