About this calculator
A circle sector is the pie-slice-shaped region bounded by two radii and the arc between them, and its area is simply the fraction of the full circle that the slice's angle represents, multiplied by the circle's total area. A 90-degree sector, for example, is exactly a quarter of the full circle's area.
This calculation comes up whenever a design or a physical object is a partial circle rather than a full one, such as a fan blade, a pizza slice, a stained-glass window panel, or a wedge-shaped garden bed. Engineers also use sector area when calculating material for curved architectural elements and when working out cam and gear tooth geometry.
