About this calculator
A home seller’s net proceeds are what’s left of the sale price after paying off everything tied to the transaction: the remaining mortgage balance, the real estate agent’s commission (traditionally around 5–6% of the sale price, split between the listing and buyer’s agents), and other selling costs such as title fees, transfer taxes, and repairs negotiated with the buyer.
This is the number that actually matters to a seller deciding whether to sell, since the sale price alone says nothing about what lands in their pocket. This calculator subtracts the mortgage payoff, commission (as a percentage of sale price), and other costs from the sale price to show the net cash proceeds.
