About this calculator

Military-style fitness tests (like the U.S. Army ACFT two-mile run event or similar services’ PT test run) score run time on a points scale rather than pass/fail, using two anchor times per age and sex group: the fastest time that earns maximum points and the slowest time that still earns a passing score. Times between those two anchors are scored by linear interpolation, so a run a few seconds off the max-score time loses only a proportional handful of points rather than the full score.

Service members preparing for a record PT test use this scoring to know exactly how many points a given goal time is worth, and to see how much time improvement translates into how many additional points — useful for deciding whether closing a 10-second gap is worth the training investment relative to improving other test events.

This calculator takes your two-mile run time, age and sex, and returns your interpolated fitness-test score between the passing and maximum-score benchmarks.
