About this calculator
A warehouse club membership (Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s) only pays for itself if the per-item savings from bulk pricing add up to more than the annual membership fee, and this calculator runs that math directly: it takes your estimated savings per shopping visit compared to regular retail prices, multiplies by how many times a year you’d actually go, and nets that against the membership fee to give your annual net savings.
It also computes the break-even point — membership fee ÷ savings per visit — the number of trips needed before the membership stops costing you money, along with a return figure (net savings ÷ fee) so you can see the percentage return on the membership itself, the same before-you-sign-up math a budget-conscious shopper or a personal finance calculator would run.
