About this calculator

Many games size their leveling curve with a power-curve formula such as XP(level) = base × level^exponent, where a higher exponent makes each successive level require disproportionately more experience — the classic “grindier at high levels” curve. This calculator takes your current level, current XP, and the curve's base and exponent settings to compute exactly how much more experience you need to reach the next level.

Game designers balancing progression pacing and players trying to plan a play session around a level-up both use this kind of calculation — designers to tune how fast early levels feel rewarding versus how much of a grind late-game levels become, and players to estimate whether one more dungeon run or quest chain will actually get them across the threshold.
