About this calculator

This calculator sums the experience cost of every level between your current and target level, where each individual level's cost follows base × level — a common linear XP curve in RPGs and mobile games — so the total is the sum of that expression across the whole range rather than a single formula applied once, since the cost per level increases as you climb.

Game designers use this kind of curve when tuning progression pacing, checking how many hours of grinding or how much currency a linear cost curve demands compared to steeper exponential curves. Players of RPGs, MMOs and mobile games use the same math in reverse, to estimate how much total XP — and therefore how much playtime — stands between their current level and a target one before committing to the grind.
