About this calculator

For resin (SLA/DLP/LCD) 3D printing, the resin needed roughly tracks the model's solid volume plus any supports and a margin for waste; converting that volume to mass uses the resin's density (typically 1.1–1.2 g/mL), and converting mass to cost uses the price and size of the bottle it came from (cost = mass ÷ bottle size × bottle price).

Hobbyist 3D printing enthusiasts use this to estimate how much of an expensive resin bottle a print will consume before starting it, and miniature and prop sellers — on marketplaces like Etsy — use the same numbers to price their prints by factoring material cost into what they charge.
