About this calculator

Tire pressure is a balancing act: too high and the ride turns harsh, traction drops, and rolling resistance actually increases on anything but glass-smooth pavement; too low and you risk pinch flats and sluggish handling. Modern pressure guidance — the approach used by tools from SRAM and Silca, among others — sets pressure from rider-plus-bike weight, tire width and the surface you’re riding, rather than a flat one-size-fits-all number.

Road, gravel and mountain bike riders use it to dial in pressure before a race or long ride, which matters even more now that wider tubeless tires run comfortably at pressures well below what older rules of thumb used to recommend.

This calculator takes your rider weight, tire width and terrain, and returns a recommended front and rear tire pressure in PSI.
