About this calculator
A coin jar value estimator adds up the total value of loose change by multiplying the count (or estimated count) of coins at each denomination by that coin's face value, then summing across all denominations. Since jars of mixed change are rarely counted coin-by-coin, people typically estimate counts by weight, by rough visual proportion, or by counting a sample and scaling up.
It's a handy check before hauling a heavy jar to a coin-counting kiosk (which usually charges a percentage fee) or a bank, letting you gauge whether it's worth the trip, or simply satisfy curiosity about how much spare change has accumulated over months or years of tossing coins into a jar.
