About this calculator
This calculator combines a midterm score and a final exam score according to their assigned weights (for example, 40% midterm and 60% final) to produce the overall course average, matching how most instructors actually calculate final grades rather than a simple 50/50 split.
Students use it during the term to check where they stand before an exam, and — more importantly — to work backward and figure out the minimum final exam score needed to pass or to hit a target grade, which turns an abstract weighting scheme into a concrete number to aim for.
