About this calculator

The price at which a crypto trade truly breaks even is higher than the raw buy price, because trading fees are charged on both sides of the trade — once when buying and again when selling. To recover both the original purchase and both sets of fees, the sell price needs to be roughly buy price × (1 + buy fee%) / (1 − sell fee%), not simply equal to what was paid.

Traders who ignore the fee-on-both-sides effect often think they're break-even (or even in profit) at a price that's actually still a loss once fees are accounted for, especially on exchanges with higher trading fees or on frequent, smaller trades where fees compound relative to the position size. This calculator takes your buy price and the fee percentages on both the buy and sell side and returns the exact price you need to sell at to break even.
