About this calculator

Selling on a marketplace like Amazon or Etsy means the price a customer sees isn't what a seller actually keeps — referral commissions, payment processing charges, and flat per-listing or per-order fees all get subtracted before profit is realized. Marketplace pricing works backward from a target profit: instead of guessing at a list price, it solves for the price that, after every fee the platform takes, still leaves the margin the seller wants.

The underlying math takes the product cost, adds the desired profit and any flat fees, then divides by one minus the percentage-based fee rate, since that percentage is taken off the final sale price, not the cost. This calculator runs that math for you, which is especially useful for ecommerce sellers launching a new SKU, adjusting prices after a fee change, or comparing profitability across different marketplaces with different fee structures.
