This tool scans a block of text for every token that starts with # followed by letters, numbers, or underscores, lists each hashtag it finds, counts the total, and identifies the longest one — the same pattern-matching logic that powers hashtag detection on social platforms themselves.

Social media managers and marketers use hashtag counts to stay within platform norms and best practices: Instagram technically allows up to 30 hashtags per post but engagement research generally favors far fewer, X/Twitter posts typically perform better with just 1-3, and LinkedIn recommends a handful of highly relevant ones rather than a long list. Pasting a draft caption here before publishing gives a quick, objective count and full list — useful for catching accidental duplicate tags, checking you haven’t exceeded a platform’s practical limit, or spotting an overlong hashtag that won’t fit well in a display feed.
