Under standard US wage rules, overtime hours are typically paid at 1.5 times (time-and-a-half) the regular hourly rate, usually for hours worked beyond 40 in a week under the Fair Labor Standards Act, while some states and union contracts also mandate double time — 2 times the regular rate — for hours beyond a daily threshold or on certain days such as a seventh consecutive workday.

This calculator takes your hourly rate and the hours worked at each tier — regular, 1.5x overtime, and 2x double-time — and multiplies each by its corresponding rate to give total pay for the period, making it easy to verify a paycheck or estimate earnings for an irregular or heavy-overtime week.
