About this calculator

Relative strength expresses how strong you are relative to your own body weight rather than in absolute terms: divide your best lift (say, your one-rep max squat or deadlift) by your body weight to get a ratio, such as 1.5x bodyweight. This lets you compare strength meaningfully across people of very different sizes, since a 200 kg deadlift means something very different for a 70 kg lifter than for a 140 kg lifter.

Powerlifters and strength coaches use relative-strength ratios as a quick, low-math alternative to full formulas like Wilks or DOTS when comparing lifters across weight classes, and CrossFit and general strength-training programs publish bodyweight-ratio standards (such as squatting 1.5x bodyweight or bench pressing 1x bodyweight) as benchmarks athletes can aim for regardless of their size. It is also a practical way for an individual lifter to track real strength progress independent of any bodyweight gained or lost during a training block.

Enter your best lift and your body weight, and this calculator divides one by the other to give you your relative strength ratio.
