About this calculator

Strength-to-bodyweight ratio expresses a lift as a multiple of your own body weight: ratio = weight lifted divided by body weight. A 180 lb lifter squatting 360 lb has a 2.0x ratio, which is the standard way strength is compared fairly across people of different sizes, since raw weight lifted alone favors heavier lifters.

Powerlifters and strength coaches use bodyweight ratios to set standards by lift and sex — for example, a raw squat of 1.5x bodyweight is often considered a solid intermediate benchmark, while 2x+ moves into advanced territory — and to compare an athlete’s relative strength across different weight classes without conflating it with body mass. It’s also the basis of strength-level charts used in programs like StrongLifts and Starting Strength to gauge progress.

This calculator divides the weight you lifted by your body weight and returns your strength-to-bodyweight ratio for that lift.
