About this calculator

Your after-tax (take-home) income is what's left of your gross pay once tax is subtracted, and the simplest way to model it is with a flat tax rate: a single percentage applied to the whole income figure, rather than the bracketed, progressive system many countries actually use where different slices of income are taxed at different marginal rates. A flat-rate model trades some precision for speed, which makes it handy for quick comparisons.

This calculator multiplies your gross income by one minus that flat rate to show your net income directly. It's useful for freelancers and contractors estimating what they'll actually keep from a rate or invoice, for comparing job offers or side income at a glance, or for budgeting purposes when you want a fast approximation rather than running a full tax return.
