About this calculator

The Glossbrenner score is a bodyweight-adjustment formula used in powerlifting to compare lifters of different sizes on a level playing field: it multiplies a lifter's total (the sum of their best squat, bench press and deadlift) by a coefficient derived from a polynomial function of bodyweight, part of the same family of formulas as the well-known Wilks score. Because the coefficient shrinks as bodyweight grows, a lighter lifter and a heavier lifter with the same raw total can end up with different — and more comparable — adjusted scores.

This score is used by powerlifting federations, meet organizers and lifters themselves to determine “best lifter” awards at a competition where athletes span many weight classes, since raw totals alone would always favor the heaviest competitors. Coaches and lifters also track their own Glossbrenner score over time as a normalized measure of strength progress that accounts for any bodyweight changes during a training cycle.
