About this calculator
The Schwartz formula is one of the classic powerlifting scoring systems used to compare lifting totals fairly across different body weights, since raw totals naturally favor heavier lifters — it applies a body-weight-based coefficient to a competitor's total (squat, bench press and deadlift combined) to produce a single comparable score, similar in purpose to the more modern Wilks or IPF GL formulas but built on an older set of coefficients.
Powerlifting federations, meet organizers and lifters themselves use body-weight-adjusted scores like Schwartz to determine "best lifter" awards across weight classes and to let a 65 kg lifter and a 120 kg lifter meaningfully compare performances, since simply ranking by total kilograms lifted would always favor the heaviest competitors regardless of relative strength.
This calculator takes a lifter's total and body weight and returns their Schwartz score for cross-weight-class comparison.
