About this calculator

The Wilks 2 (2020) score normalizes a powerlifter's total kilograms lifted (squat + bench + deadlift) for bodyweight, so lifters of different sizes can be compared on a level footing. It works by plugging bodyweight into a fifth-degree polynomial coefficient formula — separate for men and women, and updated in 2020 to better fit modern lifting data at both the very light and very heavy ends of the bodyweight spectrum than the original 1994 Wilks formula did — then multiplying that coefficient by the total lifted.

A higher Wilks 2 score means a more impressive lift relative to bodyweight, regardless of weight class. Powerlifting federations, meet directors, and competitive powerlifters use it to award best-lifter trophies across weight classes and to compare their own performance against lifters they'd never face head-to-head in the same class.
