About this calculator

The Malone-Meltzer formula is a powerlifting scoring system built specifically for female lifters, producing a bodyweight-adjusted coefficient that's multiplied by total weight lifted to give a comparable score across different weight classes — the same purpose the Wilks formula serves, but with coefficients derived from and calibrated to women's strength curves rather than men's. The coefficient is a polynomial function of bodyweight, so it changes smoothly as bodyweight changes rather than jumping between fixed weight-class brackets.

Female powerlifters use their Malone-Meltzer score to see how their total stacks up against lifters in other weight classes, meet directors and judges use it to determine best-lifter awards when competitors of different bodyweights are competing head-to-head, and strength coaches track it over time as a bodyweight-independent measure of an athlete's progress.
