About this calculator

This calculator applies the Sayers equation, P (W) = 60.7 × jump height (cm) + 45.3 × body mass (kg) − 2055, developed by Sayers et al. (1999) from force-plate studies correlating countermovement vertical jump height and body mass with directly measured peak anaerobic power output.

Strength and conditioning coaches use it as a field-test alternative to expensive force-plate or Wingate testing — a jump mat or simple vertical-jump measurement plus a bathroom scale is enough to estimate an athlete's explosive leg power, track it across a training cycle, and compare it against normative data for sports like basketball, volleyball, and sprinting.
